Izelle’s paternal great-grandmother — Jopie du Plessis’s mother. Married Marthinus Petrus du Plessis at Jacobsdal in 1903 and raised ten children with him in the Fauresmith / Luckhoff district of the Free State. Her maiden name being Jansen van Rensburg (not Fourie) is one of the pieces of evidence that shifts Jopie’s “Fourie” middle name from a maternal-surname reading toward commemoration of the Boer martyr Jopie Fourie.
