What I build and keep going outside the day job. Some of it has a website; some of it is a stack of letters.
A multi-tenant church website and management platform for South African Reformed congregations. Each congregation gets its own site and its own admin, bilingual in Afrikaans and English. It is run as a non-profit and is free for every congregation.
I write choral music. A Requiem begun in 1992 is being set for SATB choir — the Introit, the Lacrimosa, the Pie Iesu and the Dies irae sequence so far, with the middle of the sequence still to come. Winternag, a setting of the Eugene Marais poem for SSA choir and piano, was arranged in August 2026. And None like you, an original hymn, is now engraved as an SATB score for a choir that will sing it later this year.
A new bilingual website and mentor portal for Crossroads Prison Ministries South Africa, replacing a five-page site and, in time, the desktop programme-management system it still runs on. Built as volunteer work, and deliberately simple and cheap to run.
I am a volunteer mentor with Crossroads Prison Ministries. Incarcerated students work through Bible-study courses by correspondence; each week I mark their lessons, assess the devotional, and write each student a personal letter. I am also translating the Great Truths of the Bible and Survey of the Bible curricula into Afrikaans.
A one-page website I built and host as a favour for Crossworks Missions, a South African public benefit organisation doing mission and relief work in southern Africa. Static, no CMS, on GitHub Pages under its own domain.
