Memory

Poetry · English

I remember the rocks
On the coastline
Where I held you
When we were gray

And your joyous tears
For our princess child
As we passed you
On her wedding day

I remember
Several trips
Special walks
Silent looks

Your content
With the rhymes I taught
With the rhymes I taught
With the rhymes I taught
Every game we played
All the books

I remember you
Never more radiant
And hearing you
In her newborn cry

As I recall
You were strongest then
Bursting to give life
Willing even to die

I still clearly taste
Every saline drop
I kissed from your cheeks
As you took my ring

I will not forget
How you saw my soul
As you watched me play
As you heard me sing

I remember
The future
So clearly
From my dreams

The more
I dream it
The more distant
It seems

I dream
All our hopes
And tomorrows
Will last

And be blessed
And be true
As my visions
Of our past
