Seasons apart
Autumn was an early April
I felt the warmth abate
Every chilly breeze and gust
Seemed to cause you to berate
May started a little damp
And with every drop of rain
Every time the clouds moved in
You cried your teary pain
June July and August
Were typically grey and stark
And while the sun shone plenty
You felt mostly dark
It wasn't till September
That my eyes finally saw
Only as the snow was melting
Did I begin to thaw
Looking at my seasons
I realised something new
You weren't being affected
The weather followed you
I clearly understood
The swirl of every leaf
The reason for the wind
It blows because you breathe
Clouds don't make you sad
They only make you sleep
And rain doesn't make you cry
And rain doesn't make you cry
It rains because you weep
I thought it was enough
To marry you and to stay
But now I realise
I have to choose you every day
And I do
