You Haunt Me

Poetry · English

The sweet complexity
of your face
haunts me constantly
when loneliness embraces...

Equally does your fragrance
haunt the damp woods of my soul
when I try to rinse
the thoughts of you that roll
from wall to wall
in my ice-grey skull.

I struggle to recall
the love you felt for me. Then, dull
and pitifully, I fold
and rend the life
which I have sold
to the god of suicide
in my endless strife
to be at your side
