Izelle’s paternal grandmother, Francina Carolina Meades (1915–2000), sat at the wall of the daughters’ side of the family until the 1951 Koffiefontein marriage record led to her existing FamilySearch profile — which arrives with four generations already attached.

• David Jacobus Meades (1885–1960) × Maria Dorothea Petronella van Tonder (1887–1975) — Francina’s parents. Twelve children.
• Jan Wolfaard Meades (1857–1940) × Francina Carolina Scholtz (1861–1930) — Izelle’s great-great-grandparents. Married 17 September 1883 at Dutoit’s Pan in the alluvial-diamond diggings that had grown into the town of Kimberley by then. Nine children.

The naming echo runs down the female side of this line: Francina Carolina Scholtz (1861–1930) → Francina Carolina Meades (1915–2000) — grandmother’s given names carried forward intact.

Open questions

• Jan Wolfaard Meades’s parents. The next rung up on the surname line. What was the Meades family doing in Griqualand West by the 1880s? The Dutoit’s Pan wedding is a diamond-rush marriage — worth understanding the earlier passage into the Cape.
• The van Tonder side. Maria Dorothea Petronella van Tonder’s own ancestry is not yet traced. A future thread.
