The deepest single line on the site is the Tait line, on Izelle’s maternal side. From Pieter Johannes Tait (1928–2014), the surname climbs seven further generations to George Tait (b. 1765) and his father Joshua Tait. The deepest rungs are unmistakable: Trumbull, Nesbit, Johnston, Barr — the Scottish-Borders cluster, full stop. A Scottish settler family that entered through the Eastern Cape (residence at Queenstown) and drifted into the Free State by the early twentieth century, where it eventually met the Duvenage family at Verkeerdevlei in 1951.
